BlackBerry smartphone maker Research In Motion (RIM) is geared up to
launch integrated mobile operator billing (carrier billing) for their
consumers in India enabling access to a host of paid for Mobile Apps on
the BlackBerry App World.
Speaking with media after inaugurating the country’s fourth ‘BlackBerry Premium Store’ in Kolkata, Sunil Dutt, Managing Director, RIM (India) said that company is already in talks with all leading mobile operators providing BlackBerry services in India and an announcement in this regard (Carrier/Operator billing for Apps) is likely to be made by the year end.
BlackBerry App World is an application download store by Research In Motion (RIM) for all BlackBerry Smartphones. The service provides BlackBerry users with an environment to browse, download, and update core and third-party paid and free applications to their smartphone using using a credit card or carrier billing.
Presently carrier billing opetion is not available for Indian users and and with the launch of this services BlackBerry Smartphone users in India can buy/purchase any paid or premium apps from App World and charges will be deducted from their prepaid account or charged in postpaid bill by the mobile service operator directly.The customer need not use a credit card. Instead, the amount is added to his monthly postpaid mobile bill or deducted from the prepaid balance.
